Wesley James is here!

Wesley James was born by Caesarean section October 20 at 11:32pm. He weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 21 3/4" long. Mom and baby are well.

Pictures and more details to come. I found a wireless hotspot in the hospital and intend to take advantage!

Almost Time

We hopefully go in for an induction in the morning. We have to call at 5:30am to make sure there's an open bed, then we're off to the hospital.

We're really excited! The next time I post, Junior should be here!

Just the two of us

After watching the Tigers and Astros win their games tonight, we decided to violate Rebecca's bed rest order and go out to dinner 'one last time' by ourselves. While we were at the restaurant, we saw two couples come in with infants in carseats. This was definitely not what I would consider a 'family' restaurant, but the babies were very well behaved. So, there is hope!

I've had a request for a recent picture of me, so here is a picture of us tonight before heading out to dinner. It's not the best, but it documents the moment.

It's time for bed...

...rest, that is. We went to the doctor on Tuesday and Rebecca's slightly elevated blood pressure and her swollen feet and legs put her on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy.

Rebecca had planned to work through til the end, though at home for the last two weeks. She was able to get all of her outstanding work transitioned yesterday and is now pretty much work-free.

We went back today and her blood pressure and swelling had improved. We go back on Monday for another checkup. Her doctor thinks she'll probably induce late next week if nothing happens sooner!

In other news, our stroller arrived today. Here is a picture of it, along with Junior's first pumpkins.

Bad Daddy

Rebecca is now going to the doctor weekly. This week marked the first time I missed one of her appointments. It's okay though, because her doctor is out all week and they just did the normal diagnostics.

Rebecca's doctor has been great (in my opinion :)). However, she's retiring effective October 27. She assures us that she'll see us through delivery and the postpartum visit, but something tells me she'll want to get Junior out as soon as possible!

We'll see how it goes...we (both of us!) go back on Tuesday.

Reality Check

Rebecca has had a 'baby buddy' in one of her former coworkers. Her friend was pregnant with her first child, and was a little over three weeks ahead of us. Well, she gave birth yesterday to a little girl. It was definitely a reality check for us. This is for real! We're up next!

Here is a pic of Rebecca in her glowing pregnant glory.

More later!

Welcome!

Ok, so we're a little late getting this blog started. Better late than never!

Rebecca is 35 weeks today. At our last visit (at 34 weeks) the ultrasound calculated a gestational age of 36.6 weeks and a weight of around 6 lbs 6 oz. So, we may be seeing Junior a little earlier than we thought. Rebecca's doctor said that she'd induce about 10 days before the due date (November 1) if nothing happens before then. So, we wait....

In the meantime, here are some much anticipated pictures of the nursery. Grandma Vera has been asking that we send some out so we can keep up with my Aunt Judy and her pictures of Harrison. :) Hopefully this will help out!

I am going to try to keep this blog updated as we go through this adventure, but cut me a little slack if I get behind, especially after Junior arrives. :)

Since our bedroom is downstairs and the nursery is upstairs, we have set up a pack-n-play (from Grandma Vera) in the study which is across the hall from our bedroom. The changing table is installed in the picture. We have resolved not to let the baby sleep in our room, but we'll see... :o

In case anyone was wondering, we sought refuge at the Davis' house in Ruston this past weekend. We arrived back in Houston on Sunday night and had a nice day off on Monday. Rebecca's doctor even sent us home with her maternity records just in case when we left her office last week. We didn't have any issues with traffic or gas, which was a blessing indeed.

Until next time!

PS...feel free to use the Comments feature below. We will read and respond as appropriate.
