Wesley's Race

Wesley did a race today! It was a duathlon - 1/2 mile run, followed by a 2 mile bike, then another 1/2 mile run. Techincally it was only open to those 5 and older, but I figured he could squeeze in. It was held shortly after one of my races so it was a perfect fit!

Rounding the corner on his first run...yes, he was last, but also one of the youngest. He'd make it up on the bike and the second run!

Hill Country Holiday

This Labor Day we decided to rent a house in the Texas Hill Country near the Blanco River and the town of Wimberley. It was only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Houston but felt like a world away.

We drove from Houston on Friday after school, had dinner at a local tex-mex place, and took in our surrondings.

On day 2, we decided to visit Blue Hole, a swimming spot on Cypress Creek in Wimberley. We had breakfast at the river house, then headed out for an early swim.

On the way home, we stopped for sno-balls and ran into some fellow Houstonians and LSU fans!

The Blanco River was less than five minutes' walk from our house. The water was cool and calm. We visited both Saturday and Sunday afternoon and Monday morning before we left.
