Hill Country Holiday
This Labor Day we decided to rent a house in the Texas Hill Country near the Blanco River and the town of Wimberley. It was only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Houston but felt like a world away.
We drove from Houston on Friday after school, had dinner at a local tex-mex place, and took in our surrondings.
Our 'river house'
Wesley and 'Tex' in the 'swimming pool'
Sunset on our first night
Sunset from the pool/grill pavillion
On day 2, we decided to visit Blue Hole, a swimming spot on Cypress Creek in Wimberley. We had breakfast at the river house, then headed out for an early swim.
PJs on the front porch
Wesley floating
Beautiful cypress
Wesley after jumping from the rope swing
Snacks and warming in the sun after a chilly swim
Wesley listening to tunes at Inoz - our lunch spot - after our swim
Clapping along
Sunday morning we had breakfast in town, then headed out on some adventures...
At the top of 'Prayer Mountain' after hiking 200+ steps
After the hike we decided to visit Canyon Lake...
At the lake
On the way home, we stopped for sno-balls and ran into some fellow Houstonians and LSU fans!
Sno-balls!
The Blanco River was less than five minutes' walk from our house. The water was cool and calm. We visited both Saturday and Sunday afternoon and Monday morning before we left.
Great weekend, with tired boys and tired parents!

Back to School
Summer is over! Wesley is starting Pre-K and Jack will be going to Mother's (nanny's) Day Out every Thursday.
Before summer ended we had s'mores in the backyard chiminea!
First off was 'Find Your Classroom' day...
Wesley found his cubby. It was below his giant eye level so it took a little time!
Wesley found his picture with the other Mighty Tigers
Jack found the kitchen center...
the puzzles...
and the books!
Jack's teachers: Ms. Angela beside him and Ms. Melva standing behind
Handsome big boy on the first day of school!
Headed down the hall
Mighty Tigers!
Sitting down to read
Now, Jack's turn...
Jack's first day!
His first 'report card'...that's Jack! Oh, and that's paint - not blood!
